Five Important Questions to Ask a Wedding DJ

Use these five questions to compare coverage, meet your DJ and understand the next steps before you commit.

A useful DJ conversation should leave you clearer about who is coming, what is included and how your day will be planned. Keep these five questions beside you when reviewing options, and ask for important details to be reflected in the written scope.

1. What exactly is included?

Ask about performance hours, setup and teardown, MC duties, microphones, lighting and ceremony coverage. Check whether travel, extra time or additional rooms affect the total. Compare the actual services being quoted rather than package names alone.

2. What are the booking and change terms?

Ask which documents and payments are needed to reserve the date, when the remaining balance is due and how changes are handled. Read the cancellation and rescheduling terms before committing. Do not assume that submitting an inquiry or receiving a quote has secured your booking.

3. How would you approach a wedding like ours?

Describe your guests, music preferences and venue. Ask how the DJ would plan transitions, work with a coordinator and respond to changes in the schedule. Request relevant examples or reviews where available, and discuss any particular venue requirements early.

4. Who will perform and who is our contact?

Confirm the performer and the person responsible for planning communication. Ask how any substitution would be handled. At 2DXtreme Events, (DJ E-swift) Ed is the DJ, supported by the 2DXtreme Events team; your event conversation should clarify the agreed coverage and contacts.

5. How do we plan the music and key moments?

Ask how to share must-play songs, music to avoid, special dances and pronunciation notes. Find out when details are needed and how to request changes. If you have a planner, discuss how the final timeline and cues will be coordinated.

Bring a short event brief

Your date, venue or city, approximate guest count and the parts of the day needing coverage are enough to start a useful conversation. Note any undecided details so they can be followed up rather than guessed.
